일반주기	Authorship of the Eikon basilike was originally attributed to Charles I, but according to Madan (pp. 125-33) it was written by John Gauden who probably included some authentic writings of the king. First 2 words of title in Greek characters. Place of publication from Wing; printer's name from Madan; year of publication given according to Lady Day dating. Has folded engraved illustration preceding title page; identified as Madan frontispiece 14 (cf. Madan p. 179). Signatures: Ap6s B-Mp1sp2s Np4s. First and last leaves blank and rarely present; A6 known to exist in only two copies (cf. Madan). Slight variations in setting among the three copies filmed; all identifed as Madan 4, Wing E278. Incorrectly identified on UMI microfilm "Early English books, 1641-1700", reel 2168:6b, as variant copy of Wing E275. Bodleian copy imperfect; lacking frontis., A1, A6, N4; tightly bound with some loss of print. Harvard copy imperfect: lacking title page, A1, A6, N4; cropped with some loss of text; frontispiece illustration mutilated. Cambridge University copy imperfect; lacking frontis., A1, A6, N4; stained with print show-through.
